Finding myself with some purples and reds still on the palette and the long-abandoned Spooky Lady within arm’s reach, I’m randomly trying to improve this older coloured NMM attempt by boosting contrast.
A Spooky Lady recap! This is a miniature display bust of a veiled and crowned undead lady in heavy spiked armour. Only two sets of colours are currently in use: the armour is picked out in purples and pinks while her veil, scarf and sash share the same red tones. Extreme highlights are placed to suggest that the purple surfaces are ‘shiny’. A small cast shadow from one of the spikes has been painted over the scarf to help imply directional light.
Not only did the arm snap off, I hadn’t noticed that the face didn’t even print correctly until I reached it, so a quick segue into something else entirely. Let’s keep the purple theme and see if I can ultimately get this to read as metallic.
